The US announced the restoration of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz

The US military has ended the blockade of sea routes leading to Iranian ports and restored free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported by the US Central Command (CENTCOM).

"US forces are not interfering with the passage of ships to and from Iranian ports in the Persian and Gulf of Oman. All US efforts to enforce the blockade have ceased," the statement said.

At the same time, American warships will remain in the region to monitor compliance with the terms of the agreement between Washington and Tehran.

US Vice President J.D. Vance said that over the past 24 hours, 12.5 million barrels of oil have passed through the Strait of Hormuz - this is the maximum figure since the beginning of the conflict. According to him, Iranian forces have not attacked ships in the strait for two nights.

Vance also said that with the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, a 60-day period of negotiations to prepare a final agreement officially began.

The parties signed the memorandum on the night of June 18. The document provides for an end to the conflict, the restoration of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and the launch of further negotiations on controversial issues between the two countries.
