In Penza, raids took place on men who had not registered for military service

In Penza and the region, police, together with employees of military registration and enlistment offices, organized mass raids on men, report “NeMoskva Speaks” , “Mediazona” , “Movement of Conscious Objectors” and the human rights project “Walk through the Forest” .

Raids take place in Penza, Kamenka and Kuznetsk. The men are allegedly forced to sign a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense to be sent to war against Ukraine.

One of the subscribers of “NeMoskva Speaks” said that several buses were parked right in the center of Penza - near the Sovremennik cinema.

“There were traffic cops, people in balaclavas and employees of the military registration and enlistment office,” he said. “They were checking for military registration and looking for conscripts-runners. The questions were primarily for those who once received a summons, but never showed up at the military registration and enlistment office. Whether they were detained or not, I don’t know.”

“In Penza, everyone is screwed, cars are stopped, public transport is stopped, men are packed up and taken away to sign a contract, there are raids throughout the city,” a city resident told human rights activists from “Go Through the Woods.”

The “conscientious objector movement” also received several reports that in Penza and the region “young people are being caught and forced to sign a contract in the RF Armed Forces.”

Another Penza resident told the Mobilization channel that they started “catching men” back in January, but recently the raids have intensified.

The fact that people in the region began to be forcibly taken to war is also evidenced by the comments of local residents under the posts of the “New Alternative” . The publication itself wrote that in November 2025, security forces took Sursk resident Vladimir Podkovyrkin away from his home to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense, and in May 2026, Stanislav Vyaltsyn was tortured in the military registration and enlistment office building on Skladskaya Street.

Astra recalls that earlier local resident Anastasia Fomina published an appeal to the head of the Investigative Committee about the kidnapping and sending to the front of her 58-year-old father, who was taken from his home in the village of Russky Kachim. According to her, her father and other men who were at the military registration and enlistment office that day were forced to sign the contract under pressure. The very next day they were sent to the Rostov region.

The regional department of the Russian Guard announced on the morning of June 18 that they were conducting an interdepartmental raid. They allegedly checked 80 drivers and identified nine citizens who had not registered with the military. Employees of the Investigative Committee for the Penza garrison handed each of them official summons to the military registration and enlistment office. Such raids, as noted, will be carried out “on a systematic basis in all districts of the region.”
