Gasoline prices in the capital region have jumped sharply due to fuel shortages and hits to refineries

In Moscow and the Moscow region, the rise in prices for gasoline and diesel fuel has sharply accelerated, writes Kommersant. Prices rose the most in the Moscow region: in a few days, gasoline prices there increased by more than three rubles per liter.

🔵 The situation in Moscow . If during the spring and early summer AI-95 at gas stations in Moscow rose in price by 0.05–0.5 rubles per liter per week, then last week the price increased by 1.76 rubles, to 75.33 rubles per liter. AI-92 in Moscow on June 15-19 rose in price by 2.07 rubles, to 67.95 rubles per liter - previously the increase was 0.1-0.5 rubles per week. The average cost of diesel fuel increased by 1.73 rubles, to 81.7 rubles per liter.

🔵 The situation in the Moscow region. In the Moscow region, the average cost of AI-95 this week increased by 3.44 rubles, to 76.49 rubles, AI-92 - by 3.87 rubles, to 69.71 rubles. Previously, prices for these brands rose by an average of 0.1–1 rubles per week. The average cost of diesel fuel jumped by 3.33 rubles, to 82.85 rubles per liter. The increase was the highest since March.

🔵 Reasons . Market participants attribute the growth to a reduction in fuel supply. It has become more difficult for independent gas stations to buy petroleum products, so they are forced to purchase more expensive Belarusian gasoline. Major oil companies send fuel to their own gas stations.

Experts told the publication that the price jump was caused by “unscheduled refinery repairs, increased seasonal demand and rush consumption.”

🔵 Context . On June 18, Ukrainian troops launched a record number of drones across Russia. The main target was the Moscow Refinery.
