The former CEO of Aeroflot was arrested in Moscow. He left the company in 2022, having fallen under sanctions

The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow arrested the former general director of Aeroflot Mikhail Poluboyarinov in the case of abuse of power (part 3 of Article 285 of the Criminal Code), Mediazona reports.

Vedomosti sources confirm Poluboyarinov’s detention. According to them, investigative actions are being carried out with the former general director of Aeroflot, but his status in the criminal case is unknown.

The hearing on the arrest of Poluboyarinov in the Tverskoy court took place on June 19. What prompted the case is unknown. Journalists note that until 2020 Poluboyarinov was a member of the board of VEB.RF, and in April the same Tver court sent the current deputy chairman of VEB.RF Artem Dovlatov under house arrest on the same charge.

According to a Vedomosti source, Dovlatov’s case was related to the reorganization of banks under the previous leadership of the state corporation back in 2016.

The press service of Rostec told Mediazona that Poluboyarinov works in one of the subsidiaries of the state corporation, and when asked if they knew about his arrest, they answered: “Alas, we have no comments.”

The maximum punishment under the part of the article that is charged against Poluboyarinov involves up to 10 years in prison.

• Poluboyarinov worked at Aeroflot from 2000 to 2009 and was deputy general director. Then he went to VEB.RF, and in November 2020 he returned to Aeroflot and became CEO. Poluboyarinov left this post in March 2022 after he came under EU sanctions.
• A year later, RBC sources said that Poluboyarinov went to work at Rostec, where he was going to deal with issues of financial support for the activities of the entire group of companies included in the state corporation.
• In 2020, Poluboyarinov took 52nd place in the Forbes ranking of “100 civil servants with the highest incomes.” His fortune at that time was estimated at 285.7 million rubles.
