Restrictions on the sale of gasoline were introduced in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, the main oil-producing region of Russia.

In the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug (KhMAO), restrictions have been introduced on the supply of fuel at a number of gas stations, the head of the region, Ruslan Kukharuk, said at an operational meeting.

The restrictions, he said, were introduced “taking into account the increased demand” for gasoline and diesel - in order to prevent artificial shortages, as well as “speculation and resale.” Kuharuk did not specify which specific gas stations we are talking about.

At the same time, the governor assured that “there are sufficient reserves of petroleum products in the district” and called on residents “not to create an artificial shortage.”

The Muksun.fm publication writes that restrictions apply at certain Gazprom Neft gas stations, where up to 40 liters of gasoline and up to 80 liters of diesel fuel are sold per person. There are also limits at Lukoil gas stations.

The Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug accounts for about 40% of all-Russian annual oil production. In Russia, this region ranks first in terms of production. Oil production accounts for more than 70% of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug's budget revenues. At the end of 2025, Kuharuk said that the region intends to maintain production at current levels in the coming years.
