“They pardoned me and also gave me money.” Serial killers return to war

On May 25, 2026, the Central District Military Court in Yekaterinburg sentenced 29-year-old Russian army serviceman Artem Buchin to life imprisonment for double murder. He was found guilty of raping and murdering his ex-wife and her seven-year-old daughter from his first marriage. He will spend the first 10 years in prison, and the remaining term will be served in a maximum security colony. Two years ago, he also raped and killed a random passerby. He was released from the colony because he signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense and went to the front. And then he returned.

“Probably behaved wrongly”

On August 28, 2022, Buchin, according to investigators, met 23-year-old nurse Tatyana Rekutina on the street, who asked him for directions. He decided to see her off.

– He had previously had a fight with his wife Katya (Buchin’s ex-wife Ekaterina Serebrennikova) . He left in the morning out of anger. A group of friends remained at her home at that time. I still thought then that if there were no guests at her house, she herself would have been killed - he tried to strangle her in front of everyone, and before that she complained of beatings. And so he took out his anger on an unfamiliar girl who turned up quite by chance,” says Serebrennikova’s relative Olga ( we do not name the names of the interlocutors for reasons of their safety - SR ). “In the end, Katya didn’t even consider him guilty. I felt sorry for the killer!

Many people still remember the details of that murder in the village of Chusovoy (population: about 44 thousand) in the Perm Territory.

– He first strangled her, then raped her and then finished her off with a stone “just to be sure”! – Olga exclaims. – At the trial, he stated that he was “overwhelmed” due to shell shock in the army. He also brought in the death of his mother, although she died a year before. And the worst thing is that not only Katya justified him. Some neighbors too: “Well, I guess she behaved wrongly.” Although by that time this was not the first crime - before the strangulation of a nurse in August, he was in prison for robbery, only in May he was released, in August - a new [crime]. We have some strange attitude towards human life - Well, you can bring it on, present yourself in the wrong way, they will kill you. It's like it's worth nothing.

In February 2023, Buchin was sentenced to 20 years in prison, although the prosecutor asked for a life sentence for him.

– He served only six months of 20 years! He enlisted in the SVO through Wagner, and was wounded there. He was pardoned and completely released! They also gave me money. He arrived in Chusovoy almost immediately from the hospital. He ran to Katya. How we tried to dissuade her! “I didn’t listen,” says Olga. – Day after day with that murder, only two years later, he still killed her. And he didn’t feel sorry for Nastenka.

In 2023, after the first murder committed by Buchin, his wife Ekaterina filed for divorce. And on August 28, 2024, the ex-spouses were drinking and had a fight. As Buchin later said, “because of smoking.”

“She allegedly slapped him in the face, he got angry and began to choke her. But I think that, as usual, he began to confront her because of jealousy - this was his usual fictitious topic for quarrels. Katya’s 7-year-old daughter, Nastya, came running to the screams - Artem also strangled her. When their bodies were found, their heads were wrapped in tape. And at the funeral, both of their faces were purple,” says Irina , a neighbor of the murdered woman. – On that day [of the murder], our neighbor Elena saw him with his youngest son ( their common son with Ekaterina was three years old, the boy’s relatives do not want to publicly announce the boy’s name - SR ). The boy was very quiet, even slowed down. And Buchin, very excited, said that Katya was sick, so she was taking her son away. He, as always, ordered a taxi. When he returned from "SVO", he simply squandered the money - every day he bought household appliances, rode in a taxi, and almost every evening there were drunken groups. And on the day of the murder, they say, he took his son to his grandmother and went to the sauna. And he played around there for three days until he was finally detained.

Neighbors say the life sentence now handed to the serial killer has done little to reassure them.

– I know the family of Yulia ( the mother of Tatyana Rekutina, who was killed in 2022 - SR ), she and her father - what was it like when this killer was first released? He was walking around in front of them - he was deliberately mocking them. Not only did he not apologize, he also did not comply with the court order - what 3 million compensation? He didn’t even pay 100 thousand to the parents of the murdered woman. And they watched his face. Although the local guys tried to scare him - either they would throw him out of the bar or they would not let him into the store. But at least something would come to him - and because he was a military man - it would come to them,” says neighbor Irina. - Well, do you think we’re not afraid after this? The law is not written to him; as a military man, under the cover of the state, he can kill everyone. And even more so for us who were indignant. Now he will sign the contract again and come for revenge. Some of us spoke out against him [at the trial]. Now we are afraid that we will also be buried in a row, after Tatyana, Katerina and Nastya. They were buried in neighboring plots, 200 meters away.

"Mother's killer lives nearby and attacks"

“Once upon a time there was a woman. She fed everyone, she cleaned up after everyone,” this is how her relatives describe the character and fate of 48-year-old Gutina Myrsanova, a mother of three children from Yakutsk.

– For 20 years she pulled her husband, a policeman, out of drinking bouts, drove his drunken colleagues and relatives out of the house, where they drank right in front of their children. She raised her children virtually alone and built a house registered to her husband. As a result, this husband thanked her - he killed her cruelly and pervertedly. And nothing to him for it! The war washed away all the guilt! Now he lives next door, poisoning both the children and the relatives who help them, says a relative of the murdered Amaana .

She still remembers with horror the details of that night from January 7 to 8, 2024.

– Baannya, or Ivan in Russian, was a nightmare for the whole family for all 20 years of their life with Gutina. He is a former policeman and any of her complaints were suppressed by his colleagues. That day he was hanging out with one such colleague, also a former police officer. We continued both in the evening and at night. Gutina prepared it, but he was clingy—either she cooked it wrong or served it wrong. Every time she came down from the second floor, she listened to all this,” Amaana recalls. - At some point, in the middle of the night, her husband called her down - their youngest 10-year-old son, as if feeling something, dissuaded her from going. She went and he started beating her in front of his guest. He didn't even intervene. Then she came back upstairs, and this freak came upstairs, raped her, beat her and dragged her down. He continued beating in front of the second policeman. Threw it under the tree. Gutina, barely losing consciousness, called the police and an ambulance. And they even arrived! But Myrsanov convinced them that this was a false call and “everything is fine.” Gutina died for several hours from a brain hemorrhage on the floor under the New Year tree.

Medical experts called it "a blow to the scalp that was fatal: there was a huge hematoma in the parietal region - a mark from a fatal blow with a hard, blunt object."

According to Gutina’s friends, the children are so accustomed to their father’s drunken brawls that over the past few years they have stopped reacting.

“They put on noise-canceling headphones, otherwise you wouldn’t sleep.” He drank every day, and when he drank, he screamed. Therefore, the children did not hear the moment when he began to kill his wife. They only realized it the next morning when they saw the mother already dead downstairs, says the friend of the deceased , Dalaana . “The youngest did not yet understand that his mother was dead. He tiptoed to the first floor, saw her lying on the floor, and quickly returned to his room. In the garage at this time, Myrsanov was deciding what to do next. Gutina’s body was already numb by that time.

According to the relatives of the murdered woman, the former policeman had to call the police because neighbors began knocking on the house and came to visit.

- Only at lunchtime they called [the ambulance and the police]. When they put Gutina in a special bag, she had to put it together with a natural sheepskin blanket that Gutina sewed with her own hands. Because she was lying on it, and it was all covered in blood. Gutina was all blue from the beatings. Her mouth was full of blood,” says Amaana. – And this freak testified that at 9 am he allegedly performed artificial respiration on her corpse! And she was already numb by that time!

In August 2024, the Yakut City Court found the ex-policeman guilty of beatings leading to death and sentenced him to 9 years in a maximum security colony. Then Myrsanov filed an appeal, but the Supreme Court of Yakutia increased the term to 10 years in a maximum security colony. However, a month later he signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense and was released.

“At first I tried to desert, then I was written off for health reasons. He was not seriously wounded, we still don’t understand why he was written off. They don’t write off cripples on crutches, they send them back to the front, but this is welcome,” Amaana is indignant. – We suspect that he gave a bribe. There is no other way. He's healthy. He returned, settled in a nearby barracks with his brother and continues to give children nightmares. Recently he attacked his eldest daughter, she is 16 years old and was returning from school. I barely had time to jump into the house. The police react as usual: “Come back when they kill you.” But he will kill again. He has zero moral principles - he is trying to wrest away from his own children the house that Gutina built, including with child benefits, and maternity capital. And which he publicly promised at the trial to give to the children and not claim it. Now Gutina’s son from her first marriage, Michiel, lives there with the younger ones, Maxim and Alena. He is already 29 years old. He took custody of his younger sister and brother. But it’s not enough for this freak to kill their mother, he’s trying to further ruin their lives. He keeps the entire area in fear. Continues to drink and get into fights. He yells that “he’s the law here.” And since he is a military man, everyone is forced to avoid him, they are afraid to get involved. When will this all end?!
