Member of the Ulema Council of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims accused of terrorist activities

The Moscow garrison military court arrested a member of the ulema council of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia, the imam of the South Butovo mosque, Wisam Ali Bardvil. He was charged under Part 2 of Art. 205.5 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of a terrorist organization).

According to RBC, the investigation considers him a member of a cell of the Muslim Brotherhood organization (recognized as terrorist in Russia and banned).

In May and early June, Bardvil was twice subjected to administrative arrest for 15 days. First - on charges of disobedience to police orders (Part 1 of Article 19.3), then - for petty hooliganism.

During the work of Wisam Ali Bardvil in the Muftiate of Karelia, one of his deputies was the Ingush theologian and public figure Akhmed Tangiev. He is also under arrest on charges of participation in a terrorist organization.

Let us remember that in May there was a wave of arrests of Muslim theologians. Among others are the Mufti of Mordovia Rail Asainov, the chairman of the Muslim Community of the North-West Mohammed Henni, and the adviser to the Mufti of the Saratov region El Khikh Nidal Awadallah Ahmed. All of them are associated with the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia under the leadership of Ravil Gainutdin.
