Repeaters on the border of Ukraine and Belarus, which helped guide Russian drones, stopped working on June 22, Vladimir Zelensky said in a comment to reporters.

According to him, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky and intelligence reported to him about the cessation of the operation of the repeaters. However, it is not yet known whether the equipment has been dismantled or not.

Ukraine has long claimed that on the territory of Belarus there are antennas that are part of two-way video communication systems with Russian long-range drones such as “Geranium” and “Gerbera” attacking Kyiv. The Russian Armed Forces, like the Armed Forces of Ukraine, use mesh networks for video communication with drones: UAVs with video cameras and special modems act as air repeaters for each other, which allows you to maintain communication with them over tens and hundreds of kilometers. But they receive the primary signal from repeaters on the ground. Ukraine believes that Russian repeaters for mesh networks in the Kyiv area are located in Belarus.

In recent days, Ukrainian border guards have recorded a decrease in the intensity of Russian attack drones flying through the Chernihiv region and the absence of a massive flight of “Shaheds” along the Belarusian-Ukrainian border, said Andrey Demchenko, a representative of the State Border Service of Ukraine.

On June 19, Zelensky demanded from Alexander Lukashenko that the repeaters be removed and threatened that if this was not done within a week, then Ukraine would do it.
