Rubio: there were no agreements in Anchorage, only proposals

During the Alaska summit last August, no agreement was reached between the United States and Russia regarding Ukraine. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated this while talking to reporters after completing his tour of the Middle East.

As Rubio said, at a meeting between US Presidents Donald Trump and Russian Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, a “proposal” to end the war was discussed, but no agreements were reached. Rubio did not say what the proposal was.

Especially recently, representatives of the Russian authorities have been reproaching the US leadership for allegedly failing to implement the agreements reached in Anchorage. Putin's assistant Yuri Ushakov, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, and Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov spoke about this.

Moscow does not say what these agreements are, but they hint that part of them was the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Donetsk region. Kyiv has repeatedly stated that it does not agree to this, and the United States has not confirmed that it has agreed on this with Russia.

Rubio visited the UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain during his trip. He said that next week consultations with Iran will resume in Switzerland on the issue of implementing the memorandum on ending the conflict signed earlier.
