In May, Russia imported 5.17 thousand tons of aviation kerosene from Belarus - almost four times more than in May 2025, RBC calculated , citing data from the Center for Price Indexes (CPI). In the first ten days of June, supplies already amounted to 2.6 thousand tons.
Russia is a net exporter of jet fuel, but there are no official statistics on production, domestic consumption and exports of the fuel. According to CCI estimates, in 2025 the country produced 11.4 million tons of aviation fuel, of which 1.4 million tons were produced at the Moscow Refinery owned by Gazprom Neft. In June alone, the plant has already been subjected to three attacks by Ukrainian drones; Reuters, citing sources, wrote that it is unlikely to be restored before the end of the year.
This week it became known that Azimuth Airlines complained to the Air Transport Operators Association about the “critical situation” with jet fuel. The supplier notified the company of the need to reduce consumption by a third; Azimuth could not find alternative suppliers. Since the beginning of June, kerosene prices at Russian airports have risen by an average of more than 17%, and in Makhachkala by 64%, to 157 thousand rubles per ton excluding VAT. Some carriers are already testing flights on reduced quality motor gasoline.
On June 1, Russian authorities banned the export of jet fuel for the first time in history; the measure will be in effect until November 30. At the same time, the reception of imported JET A-1 into Russia through sea ports and its mixing with Russian fuel grades is being discussed.
