213 drones per night: in Kuban, after a UAV attack, the Slavyansk oil refinery caught fire and a person died

On the night of June 28, the Krasnodar region was again subjected to a massive drone attack. In Slavyansk-on-Kuban, an oil refinery caught fire, private houses, a power line and a gas pipe were damaged. One person died. Another one was injured in the Trudobelikovsky farm, Krasnoarmeisky district.

The consequences of the attack were reported by the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratyev. According to him, in Slavyansk-on-Kuban several houses were damaged after the fall of UAV debris. Also in the city, a fire occurred on the territory of an oil refinery; a power line and a gas pipe were damaged.

“Unfortunately, one person died,” Kondratiev said. He said that he had instructed the head of the district, Roman Sinyagovsky, to provide the necessary assistance to the relatives of the deceased.

The first reports from the regional operational headquarters about the fire at the refinery appeared around 02:00. Then the authorities wrote that due to the fall of UAV debris, a fire occurred on the territory of the plant, a power line was also damaged, and glass was broken in one of the private households. At that time, it was officially reported that there were no casualties. The governor later confirmed the death.

The consequences of the attack were also recorded in the Trudobelikovsky village of the Krasnoarmeysky district. There, according to the operational headquarters, UAV debris damaged four private houses. One person was injured, he was provided with medical assistance on the spot, but did not require hospitalization.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported on the morning of June 28 that from 20:00 on June 27 to 07:00 on June 28, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 213 aircraft-type drones over the territories of Russian regions, the Krasnodar Territory, annexed Crimea, as well as over the waters of the Azov and Black Seas.

The department again did not specify exactly how many drones were deployed directly to Kuban.

On the evening of June 27 and the night of June 28, the drone danger was repeatedly declared in different municipalities of the region. In the Tuapse district, the alarm was either canceled or reintroduced. In the Crimean region, an unmanned threat was declared in the evening. In Sochi, the siren was turned on around 18:00, then the threat of a UAV attack was announced again in the late evening. In Anapa, the warning system siren was turned on at night, around 01:25.

The Crimean Wind monitoring channel, citing satellite data, reported that after the strike on the Slavyansk oil refinery, the plume of smoke first stretched for more than 100 kilometers, and later up to 276 kilometers. These data have not been officially confirmed. The channel also wrote about possible heat signatures at other objects in the area of ​​Slavyansk-on-Kuban and the village of Poltavskaya, but there was no official confirmation of the destruction of these objects at the time of publication.

This is not the first time that the Slavyansk Oil Refinery has been in news reports after drone attacks. The enterprise is important for the fuel infrastructure of southern Russia, including for supplying the annexed Crimea. Against the backdrop of June gasoline shortages in the Krasnodar Territory and neighboring regions, new fires at oil facilities make the situation even more sensitive.

The official formula of the authorities remains the same: “falling UAV debris.” But the consequences on the ground are looking increasingly severe - burning refineries and oil depots, damaged houses, blocked roads, destroyed infrastructure and dead people.

For Kuban, these are no longer isolated nightly alarms, but a new reality in which the holiday season, fuel infrastructure and the lives of ordinary residents increasingly depend on sirens, reports from the Ministry of Defense and messages about where the “debris fell” this time.
