Zelensky proposed establishing the Order of Europe - for special services in supporting Ukraine’s course towards EU membership

Vladimir Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill on the establishment of the Order of Europe, said Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk.

It is expected that the new award will be given to citizens of Ukraine and foreigners for:

• outstanding achievements in supporting Ukraine’s strategic course towards obtaining full membership in the European Union
• significant contribution to helping Ukraine strengthen its resilience in protecting the independence and security of all of Europe
• strengthening international cooperation in the interests of democracy, peace and good neighborliness and friendly, comprehensive relations between peoples.

The explanatory note to the bill states that the order is proposed to be established, taking into account the “important importance of European integration processes” for Ukraine, whose future is “inextricably linked” with the EU.

The Verkhovna Rada will consider the bill at one of the next plenary meetings, Stefanchuk added.
