“United Russia” in the State Duma elections will be led by Lavrov, Sobyanin, Lvova-Belova and two war veterans

United Russia has identified the leaders of the list with whom it will go to the State Duma elections in September 2026, its chairman Dmitry Medvedev announced at the party congress in Moscow.

The top five of the federal list included:

• Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov
• Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin
• children's ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova
• "military correspondent" Evgeniy Poddubny
• Chief of the Yunarmiya main headquarters Vladislav Golovin

A propaganda poster featuring Putin was also presented at the party congress. This is the first time since 2007 that United Russia has declared itself the party of the president. The slogan on the poster reads: “Being for Putin is the basic minimum.”

Putin himself took part in the congress and gave a short speech in which he stated that Russia could not be defeated on the battlefield and called the participants in the war “the true elite.”

Elections of deputies to the State Duma of the ninth convocation will be held from September 18 to 20. Meduza's sources said that the security forces want to convince Putin to postpone the elections due to the fact that the authorities are losing control over the situation in the country. Putin said at the congress that the elections “will be held on time and in strict accordance with the law, all measures for their safety will be taken.”
