After the start of the war, the Russian music market was almost completely cut off from the world market: Spotify left the country, Western services turned off monetization and subscriptions, and the majors took their catalogs, leaving Russian streaming services without the lion’s share of world new releases. But a holy place is never empty: generated music is rapidly taking over the vacated market share. Over the past year, the share of AI in new releases on Russian streaming could have grown to 40% and continues to grow, the income of real musicians is falling, and the streaming itself, which receives hundreds of thousands of new releases per month, seems to have decided to let things take their course.
