The FSB announced the arrest of a suspect in preparing to arson a synagogue in Yaroslavl

FSB officers detained a Russian who was planning to set fire to a synagogue in Yaroslavl. TASS reports this with reference to the FSB Public Relations Center.

The department called the detainee a supporter of an international terrorist organization. According to the security forces, on instructions from a curator from Syria, he purchased components for making Molotov cocktails and planned to attack a “cult Jewish institution” in Yaroslavl with them.

The FSB claims that after this the detainee was planning to leave for Syria to “join the ranks” of a terrorist organization.

The department also reported that the man was photographing the synagogue, and in his home they found ready-made homemade incendiary devices and instructions from a Syrian curator.

In the video of the security forces, the detainee says that he had to set fire to the synagogue on behalf of “one person” - “because of the conflict between Palestine and Israel.”

A criminal case was opened against the man for preparing for a terrorist attack and participating in the activities of a terrorist organization.
