The Pyaterochka and Perekrestok chain stores, owned by the X5 group, have suspended the purchase of confectionery products under the Raffaello and Kinder brands.
This decision, the X5 press service told RBC, was made “due to the unjustified increase in selling prices” by the manufacturer, Ferrero Russia.
“The manufacturer’s profitability included in selling prices is multiple times higher than the profitability of the retailer, which provides stable access to customers throughout the country and invests in logistics and infrastructure,” explained X5.
The retailer emphasized that it considers such an imbalance “unfounded” and does not intend to “subsidize it at its own expense or pass it on to consumers.”
The existing product reserves, X5 said, will be enough for about a month.
The publication requested comment from Ferrero Russia, but did not receive a response at the time of publication.
