The State Hermitage has canceled all archaeological expeditions in Crimea, Alexander Butyagin, head of the archeology sector of the Northern Black Sea region, told Rotunda.
It was he who was supposed to lead the Myrmek expedition to Kerch - the same one, because of his participation in which the archaeologist was detained in Poland at the end of last year at the request of Ukraine.
As journalists write, back in mid-May it was assumed that the Myrmek expedition would take place as usual. However, a few days ago, a message appeared in the expedition group about the postponement of work “due to the aggravation of the situation.”
Instead of Crimea, volunteers were invited to excavations in the Kuban region, noting that it would be easier to get there.
