As of June 28, 11 Russian airlines, providing more than 90% of passenger traffic throughout the country, have 130 of their 673 aircraft (19.3% of the fleet) not operating. Kommersant writes about this with reference to data from Flightradar24 and other services.
How much do planes cost? Not counting Aeroflot, eight Russian airlines have 28.9% of their aircraft idle - 93 out of 322 of their entire fleet. Airline representatives and experts noted that downtime of up to 10% of aircraft is considered normal for the industry.
The Aeroflot group has 37 of its 349 aircraft not flying, 30 of which belong to Rossiya Airlines. We are talking about Boeing 747, Boeing 777, SSJ 100, Airbus A319, Airbus 320neo, Airbus A330 and Airbus A350. At the same time, Pobeda Airlines flies all 42 Boeing 737s.
Ural Airlines has 10 and 51 aircraft not flying, Nordwind - 12 out of 27, Smartavia - 3 out of 13, Red Wings - 5 out of 26, Azur Air - 17 out of 23, Azimuth - 4 out of 19.
How bad is it? As Kommersant notes, the main reason for the increased downtime of aircraft this year is the prolonged maintenance of the aircraft.
The majority of experts surveyed consider such indicators to be “not bad” for an industry that has been under international sanctions for the fifth year. However, they predict the situation will worsen next year due to aging aircraft and expiring resources. This is especially true for the SSJ 100.
