A Kirov businessman received a fine of 330 thousand rubles for donating to FBK* and attempting to destroy his phone.

On June 23, the Novovyatsky District Court of Kirov fined entrepreneur and activist Alexander Avdeev 330 thousand rubles in the case of financing extremism and obstructing the investigation of the case (Part 1 of Article 282.3 and Part 2 of Article 294 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Kirov activist Maria Rose told 7x7 about this.

Alexander Avdeev was charged with transferring to the Anti-Corruption Foundation* in the amount of less than 200 rubles. A case of obstruction of the investigation was opened allegedly due to Avdeev’s attempt to destroy his phone. The prosecution asked for a fine of 400 thousand rubles for the activist.

In April, they came to Avdeev’s home with a search, but the security forces did not impose any preventive measure on him. Only at the end of the investigation the entrepreneur was given a written undertaking not to leave.

In 2022, the Mediazona and New Tab publications published the story of Alexander Avdeev, who spoke out against the war in his native Kirov. In particular, the entrepreneur placed leaflets in the stores he owned, in which he expressed his negative attitude towards the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Because of this, he faced rejection from part of his circle. In the same year and before that, Avdeev participated in pacifist and anti-corruption protests.
