Boris Berezovsky is the outlandish hybrid of the capitalist and patriot. He never separated business from state worries. And as soon as the Motherland said “necessary”, he threw everything and moved to officials. But he had something to throw.

Mathematician

Berezovsky passed good universities. Before engaged in commerce, he studied the exact sciences. He worked in prestigious mailboxes. Grouped to the excitement of the Institute of Management Problems. He became a doctor of technical sciences, a corresponding member of the Big Academy. He wrote a lot of works on applied mathematics. Mathematical mindset is a big plus for a businessman. But the path from great science to a large business is not typical of the Russian magnates of our time. Most of them rose on other yeast. Or they ascended to the tops of the bottoms - from cooperatives, shuttle raids behind tights and computers, small intermediary offices, which have grown up and so, in heavy everyday work, accumulating the initial capital. Or managed to run in Soviet state banks and simply reoriented to a new form of ownership at the right time.

Berezovsky was never a shuttle, nor a cooperator, nor a bank clerk. He acted more original. He put his brains and abilities in the work of the Soviet Automobile General, a “strong business executive”, director of AvtoVAZ Vladimir Kadannikov. The plant needed an outstanding person with a commercial vein, capable of passing the “Lada” for the car and profitably sell it. And a novice businessman, striving for a financial elite, needed a reliable springboard.

Magnate

Berezovsky created the Joint -Stock Company "Logovaz" and at first simply traded "Lada". But soon he became crowded. The ambitions of mathematics no longer fit within the framework of the assortment of the Volga Automobile Plant. And even the acquisition of the status of a privileged Mercedes dealer and a number of other prestigious brands of cars briefly entertained him. He planned to build his own factory and establish the release of the domestic "people's car". For the sake of this, an automobile All -Russian Alliance (AVVA) was founded, and Berezovsky became its general director.

The "people's car" demanded a lot of money, and it was folk, and not budget ones. There was no shortage of gullible depositors then. The Russians promised that, having invested their labor savings, they would receive good dividends and a cheap car in addition. The people lined up in the usual queues. Three years have passed. The plant, as the author of this venture claims, is built in Finland, while Avva shareholders have not yet received anything. Now the enemies are accused of Berezovsky of creating a banal “financial pyramid” and “enrichment at the expense of the people”. Berezovsky snaps up: he, they say, did not promise the depositors of immediate return, but the matter is also going tight because their previous contributions were attended by inflation.

However, during this time, the interests of the general director of AVVA managed to develop the frame of the automobile business. In 1994, he became the first deputy chairman of JSC Public Russian Television, and in fact the master of the first, Ostankinsky, television channel. Recently, he became interested in the oil business, entered the board of directors of the Sibneft concern.

This variety of Berezovsky’s business interests is not a sign of his frivolity. According to one business expert, large entrepreneurs as a type of division are divided into two subspecies: “settled farmers” and “nomads”. The former chop one plot and sit on it all their lives, extracting everything possible from it; The latter regularly migrate from the plot to the plot, remove the first - the richest - the richest - crop, and then lose interest in it and rush in search of a new place of investment of capital.

Berezovsky by nature is a typical "nomad". He could become a major scientist, academician, but left everything and went into the world of business. He also reached high degrees-judging at least by the method that was elected enemies to attempt on him: unknown criminals blew up not some “Zaporozhets”, but a completely prestigious foreign car next to the Berezovsky car. The object of attempt was not injured: only its driver was torn off. Berezovsky went abroad for a while, he drove there, but did not leave it. And a month ago he again threw everything and quickly switched to a civil service.

This transition looked like a sudden invasion of a comet into a “circle of calculated luminaries”.

Politician

Berezovsky is not the first and not the last major entrepreneur who went into politics. Kommersants usually do this either in anticipation of collapse, or in order not to get behind bars, or in order to get control over budget money. But Berezovsky’s case is special. He was not threatened with a prison or a soum. And he took the position of completely unbearable. He was an influential financial magnate, became just a modest deputy secretary of the Security Council. Nobody knew his predecessors in this post either by either by his name. And this is despite the fact that the previous Secretary of the Security Council General Lebed was a very noticeable figure. But he was replaced by the demi -season Ivan Rybkin. And the deputy Rybkin in Chechnya is a completely small value.

However, Boris Berezovsky again demonstrated the correctness of ancient folk wisdom: a person is not painted, but a person’s place.

Before the Gorbachev reforms, Berezovsky practically had no chance to join big politics. The Jew-Mathematician could “join” it only on well-known conditions, which he did not accept to the honor of Berezovsky. But, apparently, this area was always attractive to him, and by no means not only because of purely mercantile considerations. It is very possible that our hero is simply interesting to take on solving large -scale problems. Having achieved significant results in the field of opticization and modeling of complex systems, a corresponding member seems to want to use his abilities and experience to solve problems that arise in such a super-complex system as human society.

The alliance with AvtoVAZ greatly advanced him in this direction. The director of the cadannikov was not only known to one of the main “market -player reformers” from industry, but was also very close to the top, being an unofficial representative of the director’s corps under the Russian leadership. They even tried to make him as head of government. He introduced Berezovsky into the "Higher Svet".

The mathematician turned out to be a good alchemist. He found a peculiar “philosophical kar”, turning friendship with powerful people into political capital, and political capital into gold.

Berezovsky began his career as a state -owned man by funding that Boris Yeltsin’s memoirs were funded by “Notes of the President”. In this way, he actually gained access to the highest body.

After that, the successful businessman quickly broke away from Kadannikov. They parted not in the best way. The director of the VAZ, who managed to visit the first deputy prime ministers, loves to tell in private conversations how Boris Abramovich took him a considerable amount to his car alliance and still has not returned it.

A lot of things are told about Berezovsky and his next high -ranking friend, former head of the Presidential Security Service, Alexander Korzhakov. Not all revelations of the ex-guide can believe the story about how Berezovsky tried to “order” Gusinsky, gives too much a cheap detective and melodrama.

But there is, for example, such a joke from Korzhakov: “When Berezovsky came to me, he always started with the same phrase:“ Alexander Vasilievich! I had no crumbs in my mouth today, please give at least a sandwich with a seagull. ” And I thought to myself: “This is what a greedy millionaire came across. I waited so much, but I could not get to the buffet and have a bite. ” And only then I realized he did not want to eat for free, but he pulled time to hold out in my office longer. ” It looks like the truth. Well, a rustic guard could not compose such a short story in Harms style. Apparently, for a long time these sandwiches were remembered for a pressing general.

Having eaten a pound of bread with butter along with the main presidential vizier, Berezovsky left him. He left when Korzhakov seemed unshakable, and became friends with the current chief of the presidential administration Anatoly Chubais, who at that time was only a retired official and activist of the election headquarters.

It can be seen that the businessman knows how to play ahead of the manual, sensitively reacts to a constantly changing political situation and takes a profitable position in time.

So Berezovsky appeared in the Security Council not from the street. And by no means by chance he took up the work of peaceful settlement in the Chechen Republic.

Everyone remembers too well what explosion of “civil indignation” caused the appointment of Berezovsky to the post of deputy secretary of the Security Council. The left opposition protested. The press excavated information about Israeli citizenship of Berezovsky. He first denied this fact, accused the journalists of anti -Semitism, but in the end he was forced to admit that, just in case, in the fall of 1993 he received citizenship. But, they say how every Jew has every right to “register” on the promised land, and this does not prevent him from remaining a Russian patriot.

Here is a keyword. There is an opinion that large entrepreneurs are people who are completely devoid of any moral or political beliefs, always ready to sell their homeland for an extra million dollars. Such a stereotype has already developed, and for its occurrence there were some grounds. But this clearly does not apply to our hero.

Boris Abramovich is a well -known sovereign who has always been happy for the unity of Russia. At one time, he brought to his first channel of the famous “Trubadura of the War” of the television journalist Alexander Nevzorov: so that he would praise the victories of Russian weapons and repulse the Chechen separatists and their Moscow Comfort. This act of the telemagnate was caused by a lot of noise, he was condemned by the democratic public and even the general director of the ORT Sergey Blavolin. However, Berezovsky was never afraid of an open struggle with ideological opponents and stood his ground firmly.

He could be called an entrepreneur-state. This is not only a matter of beliefs, but also a matter of benefit. For the success of his business, Berezovsky needs a strong, strong power. So his transformation into an official is not a pathological desire for power, but the normal course of the Needient, who is rooting for his job.

Obviously, this was taken into account by those who appointed him. There are several versions on this score. One of them looks like this: although Berezovsky is considered a creature of Chubais, Chernomyrdin nominated him in order to substitute Anatoly Borisovich.
