“Mask” appears on the screen

They prepared for this ceremony for a long time. We spent a long time looking for a location and choosing a director. Finally, we found both. The solemn ceremony of presenting the national theater award “Golden Mask” took place in the Moscow Art Theater building on March 9. The script was written by Mikhail Bartenev and performed by the Russian Youth Theater troupe, led by chief director Alexei Borodin and People's Artist of Russia Stanislav Benediktov. Thus, the management of the award and the Union of Theater Workers decided to move away from the excessive radicalism of last year, when Vladimir Mirzoev was in charge of the ceremony. “There are a lot of evil tongues. You can’t satisfy everyone,” said the chairman of the Union of Theater Workers and, by the way, the presenter of the performance, Alexander Kalyagin. “I’m not going to run into any scandals.” Naturally, this year we took a more thorough approach to holding the festival and the closing ceremony. We all got together many times and discussed the course of the ceremony.” However, the question arises: what should our theatrical Oscar ceremony look like? As a homemade costume party, a theatrical skit, or as a fashion show? “We wanted the people who come to the Moscow Art Theater on March 9 to find themselves in their own environment,” says Borodin. - We got to the theater. I didn’t want it to be nostalgia for the past - the theater is still alive today.” Last year the ceremony was long and boring. Perhaps that is why national channels were hesitant to show it this year. However, the importance of the event won out. VGTRK was the last to join the festival organizers – STD, the Ministry of Culture and the Moscow Government. So on the Rossiya channel we will still see the closure of the Golden Mask.
