A new information space of Eurasia is being created

In October 2003, a group of journalists of the Eurasian regions took part in the special seminar of the International Federation of Journalists on the problems of gender in the media in the Ulanbator. Guests from Russia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan were accepted by the Mongol Canfederate of Journalists and the organization Glob Internewell, known in the region as a pioneer in holding gender cultural and media events (including many seminars, conferences, promotions and film festivals).

Our Russian delegation was represented by the laureate of the National Media contest “Stop violence” Marina Artemyeva (by the way, after the victory and participation in the seminar in Moscow, Marina founded the Republican Association of Journalists in Ulan-Uda), and the editor-in-chief of the Republican newspaper “Women” from Kazan Tamara Chernova. The newspapers “Woman” - the first independent publication in Tatarstan, has existed for 14 years, has been defending from the first day of the founding of the idea of ​​human rights, freedom of speech and a worthy position of women (on its pages the materials of women's forums in Dubna, an interview with the most prominent leaders of the Russian and international female movements) and the Russian editor of our journal, the regional authorized MFS Nadezhda Azhgikhina. The constructive discussion, which was attended by the Executive Director of the feminist league of Kazakhstan, the chief editor of the equal rights and opportunities magazine Yuri Zaitsev, the Gender MFS, the Azerbaijan authorized Azerbaijan, the leader of the Kyrgyz Association "Journalists" Kuban Mambaliev, the journalist The Mongolian colleagues, led by leader Glob Internet Narajargal Kushhuu and Australian journalist, member of the Gender Council of the IFD Claire Miller, ended with the adoption of the MFS action program for the Eurasian region. Its proposals for conducting a network of trainings and seminars for journalists, wide public discussions on the problems of the gender, creating a system of protecting women's rights in the profession, supporting female creativity and programs to overcome stereotypes. Especially the participants noted the importance of creating a common information journalistic website in Russian and the institution of the IFG Prize for the best publications and programs on a gender theme in the former Soviet space. The next meeting was offered to hold a year later on Issyk-Kul.

However, it took place earlier - at the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University, in early 2004. Here was a discussion of gender practices in the media of the CIS countries - and the same Yuri Zaitsev, Tamara Chernova, Narajargal Kushuu, as well as Khalim Khushkadamov from Tajikistan, Galina Petriashvili from Georgia, Tamara Aries and Jamma Asratyan from Armenia, the leader of the Institute of Gender Policy Elena Kochkina, our author, our author, our author, our author, our author The St. Petersburg Center for Gender Problems Olga Lipovskaya, editor-in-chief of the Tarusian Wanderers magazine and an employee of our magazine Tatyana Fedyaeva, the host of the Best half program, Svetlana Svistunova, representatives of many Russian regions. The practice of our journal and the Association of Journalists, which recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of the official registration (created before) was also discussed during the meeting. Based on the results of the discussion, it was decided to prepare the book for the twelfth among the publications dedicated to the gender aspects in the media of the former space. This time, the fact that the theory is actively supported by practice cannot but reinforce.
