I evaluate what is happening in my country not from the perspective of Russia or Pakistan, or any African country, but it seems that our greatest achievements relate to the long-departed period, which can be considered the best period of America’s life from the 1940s to the early 1970s. I say this is not because it was a time of my youth, but because in the dynamism of the country of that time, balance was observed. And the values prevailing in society and culture were mainly healthy values. Indeed, the female movement only unfolded; Its main achievements - the opening of jobs for women, reducing discrimination - have not yet taken place. Good events continued to occur after the 1970s, and they are still taking place - they are glimpses of the hope that we try to cultivate. In truth, my main concern about modern America concerns a policy based on a conservative ideology, reflected in the actions of President George Bush, which, as I described above, pushes my country to the emergence of a bunk society - we are rich and we, all the rest.
So, is there a thread connecting together all these scattered random thoughts? Maybe this is that large changes occur everywhere, and electronic communications inform us about this, and we feel uncomfortable. Where will all this lead? We must focus our analytical abilities, look with a fresh look and be on the alert, react in all ways available to us. Our governments are shifting an increasing burden of financial responsibility to us and our loved ones, telling us that this will stimulate our personal initiative and responsibility, will not allow us to turn into a lezbok and the “Oblomovy”. I am always for personal responsibility, truly our best contribution to humanity would have made high demands and strive to realize them.
While you read these lines, snow will already melt, spring flowers will bloom, maybe summer heat will come, even, perhaps, coolness of autumn, if not the first snowfall. This is a life cycle. I send you all, dear readers and friends, my best wishes for good health, success in your work and joys in my personal life. Sherman-Nem York
