Stanislav Shapovalov, theater producer and co-founder of the Teatrzhiv project
There is a general need to know what is happening where we are not, as the famous proverb goes. This happened with Instagram, and now this trend is most clearly embodied in Periscope, which allows you to broadcast everything around you. We are engaged in the cultural transfer of this trend to the theatrical plane. Our project is an attempt to deal with the enterprise once and for all, because tours of large academic theaters to the regions are a complex story, and the enterprise is exclusively engaged in making money.
I eat money, the artistic quality of the productions is low, this is a theatrical zoo, coming for one day. The Metropolitan Opera was the first to pick up this story due to the economic crisis - their decision to broadcast productions was dictated solely by financial considerations. We are also engaged in the resale of theater brands recognizable in Russia - we have preliminary agreements with the Moscow Art Theater, Sovremennik, and the Theatre. Pushkin, TsIM and so on. We do live broadcasts -
mi, although it is more difficult than recording: you need to install special equipment in cinemas, think about time zones. We are launching in 29 cities. The volume is large, but our task is to prove that everyone, regardless of location, can become part of a common cultural environment. Before the screenings there will be an obligatory broadcast of communication with critics, an address from the director, a feeling of a gala event - with red carpets, photographers and a buffet with the obligatory red fish sandwich.
