Chucho Valdes: "Friendship with the USSR was the impetus for Cuban music"
On July 11, at the Jazz Manor festival in St. Petersburg, pianist Chucho Valdes, a five-time Grammy Prize laureate and one of the main music ambassadors in the West, will perform. Valdeus was the first musician who guessed to combine African rhythms and Cuban folklore music with jazz, rock and fan. At the festival, he will perform with his group Irakere, which made a splash in Jazz America of the 1970s and recently celebrated the 40th anniversary.
