The era of democratic hopes ended on May 6, 2012 on Bolotnaya Square, when during a thousands of peaceful demonstration against corruption and falsifications in the elections of the authorities, the first time used mass violence to protesters.

After a large -scale rally at Bolotnaya, dispersed by the police, dozens of demonstrators were sentenced to real terms for clashes with law enforcement officers. The only guilty of the “Mass Massage Organization”, the court declared the leader of the “Left Front”, the policy of Sergei Udaltsov. He was given 4.5 years in prison.
