Reckoning for the weakness of the Central Bank
The Russian financial calendar acquired another “black” date. On Black Monday, December 15, 2014, the ruble, ignoring the intervention from the Central Bank, collapsed to the dollar and euros by more than 10%. After the closure of regular bidding at an indicative session, the Russian currency continued to get cheaper. The dollar came close to the level of 66 rubles, and the European currency took off above 80.
