Good news: Novaya Gazeta managed not only to get the story with massesless reprisals and secret prisons in Chechnya to public space, not only to force Chechnya’s leadership to react, but also to ensure that the Russian Investigative Committee begins investigative actions. Yes, an unprecedented flurry of threats from people who may well realize these threats fell on journalists of Novaya.

Russians can congratulate themselves on another wonderful achievement, which cannot but fill the patriotic soul with legitimate pride. Our country confidently took third place, having passed forward only the United States and China. Alas, not in innovation and breakthrough technologies, not in labor productivity and sizes of gross domestic product.
