At any moment of the deterioration of American-Russian relations, there were always optimists who found examples of such a confrontation in the history of the First Cold War. Cooked, they say, what they came to earlier, up to the Caribbean crisis. And nothing, every time everything somehow calmed down, at the very least (sometimes very bad), but diplomacy continued, an exchange of views took place, there were closed communication channels that did not allow to fall into a worldwide disaster.
