Exotic billionaires
Where do members of the Forbes list invest? The investments of members of the Forbes list are not much different from the investments of other rich people - they are a combination of conservative and risky assets. The standard move - buying the S&P500 index in 2009 (it was around 1000 points) - resulted in a doubling of income. And such a primitive investment as high-quality colored diamonds gave an average of 150% growth over 10 years (blue stones showed a record 360%).

What do former Yukos shareholders do? In the prestigious village of Zhukovka near the Rublevo-Uspenskoe highway there is an empty cottage complex “Apple Garden”. Personal risks
To achieve much, you must lose everything. Some readers of the magazine believe that there is no need to envy the characters on the Forbes list. This is a worthy moral position, but until recently it was not supported by rational calculation. But times are changing, and many people have a new understanding of current processes... The theory of stopping economic growth has become a common place in modern economic analysis (see Robert I. Gordon. Is US Economic growth over?

Idea market
Businessmen and scientists on the right attitude towards innovation. Many in Russia are awaiting news about a slowdown in the growth of shale oil production in the United States with a special feeling - the bubble is finally collapsing. An economy based on natural resource rent fosters a conservative attitude towards new products, and the hackneyed rhetoric of officials about “getting off the oil needle” adds skepticism.

I'm going home
East News photo Russian billionaires have responded to the call for deoffshorization. Back in 2002, speaking at the congress of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, President Vladimir Putin suggested that businessmen consider whether the time had come to return money from offshore companies to Russia, since funds transferred abroad could supposedly be frozen by local authorities. “You will be tired of swallowing dust, running around the courts,” he warned then.

Basic instinct
Facebook, Google and Microsoft are worth keeping an eye on. There are smart people there with big money. The technological revolution is likely already beginning. It's like social media in 2006. They were already a revolution, but most had not yet seen it, but some understood and invested in Facebook. Nowadays everyone is talking about “big data”, “Internet of things”, 3D printers, robots and “wearable technologies”, but there is no clear vision of where the next explosion will be.

Without driver and gasoline
Massive electric cars and self-driving taxis are a reality in the next five to ten years. When it comes to the future of transportation, the thing that will change our lives the most in the next decade is the spread of electric vehicles and self-driving technologies. It is clear that until a full-fledged charging infrastructure is created, the market for “pure” electric vehicles, without internal combustion engines, will not develop at the same pace as the segment of plug-in hybrids.
