Translator Elena Surits died
From the book “Venice. History of water and land" The famous translator Elena Aleksandrovna Surits died at the age of 93. Olga Varshaver reports this on her Facebook page. Elena Surits has translated from English, German, French, Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish since the mid-1960s. Many works by foreign authors were first published in Russian in her translations. Thanks to Elena Surits, Soviet and Russian readers became acquainted with such works as the stories of Edgar Poe, O'Henry, G. K.
