1918 Independence of Estonia declared
95 years ago, on February 24, 1918, in Tallinn (Reval), the Estonian Democratic Republic was proclaimed by the Committee for the Salvation of Estonia, the Provisional Government of which was headed by Konstantin Päts, the future president of Estonia. The Committee for the Salvation of Estonia published a “Manifesto to All the Peoples of Estonia,” which stated: “The unprecedented struggle of the peoples has completely destroyed the rotten foundations of Tsarist Russia.
