1940 German bombing of Coventry
75 years ago, on November 14, 1940, during the massive bombing of the English city of Coventry by German aircraft, 568 people died, the central part of the city was destroyed. 4,330 houses burned down, and military factories were damaged. It was the largest air raid on England since the start of the war. British intelligence was by then reading the German code, so the government learned of the raid hours before it began.
