1961 Kurenevskaya tragedy
55 years ago, on March 13, 1961, in Kyiv, as a result of the erosion of the dam by the flow of pulp from Babi Yar, the Kurenevka area was flooded. The pulp was poured into Babi Yar from the nearest brick factories. A mud shaft 20 m wide and 14 m high rushed down, on the one hand - along the current Teliha Street, resting against the tram depot, and on the other hand - down the cliff, past the St. Cyril Monastery, completely flooding the Spartak stadium and part of Kirillovskaya street.
