1921 Suppression of the Kronstadt uprising
95 years ago, on March 18, 1921, the Kronstadt uprising was crushed. Soviet troops under the command of Mikhail Tukhachevsky, advancing on the ice of the Gulf of Finland, captured the fortress and began a brutal massacre. 2103 participants in the uprising were sentenced to death, 6459 to various terms of imprisonment. About a thousand more sailors died in battle. Soviet troops lost 527 people killed.
