2011. Beginning of NATO intervention in Libya
Five years ago, on March 19, 2011, NATO countries launched a military intervention in Libya on the side of opponents of Muammar Gaddafi. They were guided by UN Security Council Resolution No. 1973, adopted on March 17, 2011 in order to protect the civilian population. Air strikes were carried out on the positions of Gaddafi's troops. Libyan aviation and air defense systems were also destroyed. Thanks to air support, the rebels were victorious.
