1866 Karakozov's assassination attempt on Alexander II
150 years ago, on April 16, 1866, at the entrance to the Summer Garden in St. Petersburg, a former student and member of the secret revolutionary society "Organization", 25-year-old Dmitry Karakozov shot at Emperor Alexander II. However, the peasant Osip Komissarov pushed his hand away, and the bullet missed him. As a reward, Komissarov was raised to the rank of nobility with the surname Komissarov-Kostromsky.
