1891. Mikhail Bulgakov was born
125 years ago, on May 15, 1891, Mikhail Afanasevich Bulgakov, one of the largest Russian writers of the 20th century, was born in Kyiv. By the end of the 1920s, Bulgakov’s works were prohibited for publication, and on the stage there was his only play “Turbine Days”. In contacting the government on March 28, 1930, he wrote: "M. Bulgakov became a satirist just at a time when no real (penetrating into the forbidden zones) satire in the USSR is absolutely unthinkable.
