1991 Referendum and presidential elections in Ukraine
25 years ago, on December 1, 1991, a referendum was held in Ukraine, in which voters answered the question "Do you confirm the Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine?" At the same time, the first nationwide presidential elections were held. 84.18% of voters took part in the voting. 90.3% of the referendum participants voted for the independence of Ukraine, including 54.2% in Crimea, 83.9% each in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
