Five years ago, on January 13, 2012, the Italian cruise ship Costa Concordia, carrying 4,234 people, hit the reefs near the island of Giglio in the Tyrrhenian Sea. 32 people died. The ship's captain Francesco Schettino, who deliberately deviated from the assigned route and made a dangerous maneuver, was blamed for the crash. He was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
