1937. Suicide Sergo Ordzhonikidze
80 years ago, on February 18, 1937, Grigory (Sergo) Konstantinovich Ordzhonikidze, a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the All -Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks and the People's Commissar of heavy industry, shot himself. The cause of suicide was his conflict with Stalin, who unfolded repression in the People's Commissariat of Culture. Anastas Mikoyan recalled: "Sergo spoke to me several times about his intention to die because he could no longer endure. I discouraged him.
