1917 The Temporary Committee of the State Duma was formed
One hundred years ago, on March 12, 1917, after the rebel soldiers occupied the Taurida Palace, the Council of Elders of the IV State Duma, on behalf of a private meeting of its members, formed a Provisional Committee, headed by Duma Chairman Mikhail Rodzianko. On this day, the mass transition of troops in Petrograd to the side of the rebels began. More than 70,000 soldiers joined the demonstrators. Prisoners were released from prisons. The Petrograd security department was destroyed.
