1812 Napoleon's invasion of Russia
205 years ago, on June 24, 1812, Napoleon's Great Army crossed the Neman River and invaded the territory of the Russian Empire. The Patriotic War began. Napoleon's troops numbered, taking into account the allied Austrian and Prussian corps, about 570 thousand people, with the French accounting for just over half of this number. Of the other peoples in the Great Army, most of all were Germans and Italians. The Russian army at the initial stage had half as many forces.
