1997 End of the civil war in Tajikistan
20 years ago, on June 27, 1997, in Moscow, at the ninth meeting between representatives of the government of Tajikistan and the united Tajik opposition, a final peace agreement was signed under the mediation of the UN. The opposition received 30% of the seats in parliament, a number of administrative positions and directorships in large enterprises, and ordinary fighters of the armed opposition became part of the regular army.
