1937 Grigory Ilyinsky was shot
80 years ago, on December 14, 1937, Grigory Andreevich Ilyinsky, a Russian philologist, historian and archeographer, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, academician of the Bulgarian and Polish academies, author of the fundamental Proto-Slavic Grammar, was shot. Ilyinsky was arrested in 1934 on a fabricated case of the "Russian National Party" ("the case of the Slavists"), sentenced to 9 years in the camps and sent to Solovki.
