2003 Murder of Zoran Djindjic
15 years ago, on March 12, 2003, Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic, leader of the democratic coalition, was shot dead from a sniper rifle in Belgrade. On charges of murder, 12 people were sentenced to 30 to 40 years in prison, including the direct executor, Lieutenant Colonel of the Serbian Army Zvezdan Jovanovich, deputy commander of the Red Berets special unit.
