Belgium is the first in the world to grant sex workers the right to maternity leave and pensions
Belgium has become the first country in the world to pass a law under which sex workers will have the right to formal employment contracts, health insurance, pensions, maternity leave and sick leave. Thus, their work is equal to any other profession. The BBC reports this. According to the publication, sex work was decriminalized in Belgium in 2022. It is considered legal in several other countries, including Germany, Greece, the Netherlands and Turkey.
