Sasha Bunin from Voronezh is 19, and his parents passed away four years ago. Their elder brother and his wife took him and his younger brother Dima under the guardianship. When he aged 18, he was asked to leave the flat. “I was thrown out to the street without anything. Somehow I tried to scratch along, settled into a students’ dormitory”, Sasha recalls.

Over the past 10 years, the Russian authorities have adopted a whole package of laws prohibiting foreigners to adopt Russian orphans. In the framework of this case, we tell how the children who are left without parents live: why they are more and less adopted, more and more often return to the orphanage, and the state cannot even provide them with a roof over their heads.
