Russia and the United States will increase the number of ready-to-use nuclear weapons in 2022 - SIPRI
The United States and Russia have deployed additional nuclear warheads and increased the number of nuclear weapons in stockpiles for potential use in 2022, the Stockholm Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) said. By January 2023, the United States had deployed 26 new warheads, bringing its number to 1,770. Russia deployed 86 new warheads (total number: 1,674). In total, 9,576 warheads are now “ready” in the world (86 more than a year earlier).
