The Slavs, like many other peoples engaged in agriculture, treated bread as a holy gift, a sent to a person from above. The share of the bread that was injected to a person was associated with his “share”, that is, fate, and along with the “part” of bread, he received his “happiness”. It is not surprising that everyday handling of bread, in particular, with food and drink, was generally regulated by many signs and instructions.
